About AMC 10

The American Mathematics Competition (AMC) is organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). Originating in 1950, it now draws over 300,000 students from more than 6,000 schools worldwide each year.

AMC is a series of contests — AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, and AIME — that identify top performers for the USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO). Roughly 24–30 elites are then selected for the Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program (MOSP), where six team members are chosen for the IMO.

AMC 10 is designed for students in grade 10 and below (and under 17.5 years old on the test day). Held every November, it offers Paper A and Paper B — comparable in difficulty; students may take either or both, with the higher score counting.
